How long will it take for my claim to be paid?

There are no agonising delays with Total Care. Village Vet clients will benefit from 'direct claims'. This means that eligible treatments will only require payment of the applicable excess. As soon as the Village Vet Total Care insurance team receives the completed claims form, they will normally process the claim within 5 working days - which, from our experience, is much faster than other insurers.

Can I still continue with Total Care if I leave Village Vet?

Yes of course. Once you have taken out a policy with us we promise to insure your pet for life wherever he or she may roam. However, to take advantage of the Preventative Care services and discounts offered with our Gold cover you will need to use a Village Vet surgery. If your pet is treated at non-Village Vet clinic you will also need to pay a higher Veterinary Fees excess of £89 (+15% of claim value for pets aged over 8 years).

Is Village Vet Total Care more expensive than other policies?

In fact Total Care offers you greater value for money and greater reliability. Here’s how:

Some policies contain significant exclusions buried in complex wording. These exclusions make them cheaper to buy, but when it comes to claiming they can seriously let you down.
Many owners see their premiums rocket after a claim or two - or after their pet reaches a certain age. As veterinary professionals we celebrate your pet’s birthdays, we don’t punish you for them. Total Care promises to insure your pet for life, regardless of age, regardless of your claim history with us.
Total Care Gold includes a unique Preventative Healthcare Package worth at least £150* every year.

Money's tight. Can I really afford to take out pet insurance?

This is a difficult question to answer as individuals' circumstances can vary greatly. However, we believe most people can’t afford not to be insured. If you are insured with Total Care you'll be able to give your vet the go-ahead for eligible potentially life-saving operations or courses of treatment. After all, when your pet is ill or injured, the last thing you want is to be worrying about how you'll foot the bill.

Are there any age limits that apply?

There is no upper age limit. Once you’re with us we’ll look after you for life. Puppies and kittens must be at least 8 weeks old when cover commences, but you can call us now on 0844 288 0007 to arrange cover to commence as soon as your puppy or kitten reaches 8 weeks. If you select our Gold level cover you will be able to take advantage of your Preventative Care package - including free first vaccinations and a discount off the cost of neutering.
