Pet insurance makes heart-breaking decisions easy

As practising vets, we’ve seen clients make some pretty big decisions about their poorly pets.  A life-saving operation that will cost the same as 3 months’ mortgage? A course of cancer treatment that would pay for a family holiday?
When your pet is ill or injured, the last thing you want to be worrying about is how you’ll foot the bill. If you’re insured, you’ll be able to give your vet the go-ahead for an immediate life-saving operation or an urgent course of treatment.

So when it comes to pet insurance, you can’t afford not to be covered.

But choose wisely...

Some pet insurance policies contain significant exclusions, buried in complex legal wording. These exclusions make them cheaper to buy, but when it comes to making a claim they can seriously let you down. We’ve seen enough disappointed and distraught owners. Total Care is designed to keep exclusions – and nasty surprises – to a minimum. We want you covered.

Choose Total Care... (click to expand)

This means that eligible treatments will only require payment of the excess.

Most insurance policies will not cover animals over a certain age. As veterinary professionals we celebrate your pet’s birthdays, we don’t punish you for them. Total Care promises to insure your pet for life , regardless of age, regardless of your claim history with us.

And because Total Care Gold insurance includes a preventative health programme , including: de-worming, de-fleaing, dental de-scaling – professional treatments and procedures recommended by vets the world over. So you can be sure that you’re always doing the absolute best for your pet without having to spend more and more.

If you don’t choose Total Care we’d still rather you were covered. Here’s our advice on what to look out for in an insurance policy:

1. Will the policy insure pets of any age?
2. How quickly will payments be processed?
3. Are the annual limits for single conditions or for all treatments that your pet has to receive? Are these limits sufficiently generous?
4. Does the policy cover cost of treatment of conditions for life or a limited period?
5. What is the excess? Are there any hidden excesses?
6. Are complementary treatments and special diets included?
7. Is preventative healthcare e.g. flea and worm treatments included?
